The Hardware Security Module (HSM) for POS systems was developed to replace traditional fiscal modules and to comply with new country-specific tax regulations for electronic cash registers.
These regulations, now widely adopted across many EU countries, require that each sale transaction be digitally signed and registered with the national tax authority server.
To enable the signing and registration of transactions even in offline mode, many countries now mandate the installation of a Hardware Security Module within POS systems.
